Repose

I am waiting for the break between my repose and the crash into light. Grinding the news of the day across the wires in my ears is a bear trap unsprung. The keys to the Republic are lost in couch cushions and the mob is lynching the gnomes that hid them while they were deep in prayer kneeling to Fox News. Are we, Americans, democratic? Answering that depends on conjecture of personal emotions and gauging the audience for the answer we think it wants to hear. Because we want to be liked in the Facebook Age. The answer we want to give is that we are civilization’s greatest torch bearer of democracy. That sounds good. That feels good.
